Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Man and Van West Hampstead in respect of our financial year. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We provide man and van, removals, and related logistics services, and we recognise our responsibility to act ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Man and Van West Hampstead has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. We are committed to ensuring that such practices have no place in our own operations or in any part of our supply chain. We expect the same high standards from all suppliers, contractors, agents, and business partners, and we will not knowingly work with any organisation that is involved in or condones modern slavery.
All staff, including permanent, temporary, and agency workers, are required to act in accordance with this policy and to support our efforts to identify and address any potential risks. Breaches of this policy by employees may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Breaches by suppliers may result in suspension or termination of contracts.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Our core services involve local and regional removals, transportation of goods, and related logistical support. Our supply chains include, but are not limited to, vehicle hire and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, packaging and materials providers, cleaning and waste disposal services, and certain agency labour providers. We recognise that some of these areas can present higher risks of labour exploitation if not managed carefully.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We are introducing and maintaining due diligence procedures in relation to new and existing suppliers. As part of our onboarding process, suppliers are required to confirm that they comply with all relevant labour, employment, and human rights legislation, and that they have their own controls in place to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking.
We communicate our zero-tolerance stance to suppliers and make clear that adherence to our standards is a condition of doing business with Man and Van West Hampstead. Where appropriate, we request information on supplier policies, recruitment practices, and the use of subcontractors or agency workers.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Man and Van West Hampstead is committed to monitoring compliance through proportionate supplier audits and reviews. These may include desk-based assessments of supplier documentation and, where risk or concern is identified, targeted site visits or requests for additional evidence.
If a supplier is found to be in breach of our standards, we will work with them to develop and implement a corrective action plan with clear timescales. If improvement is not forthcoming, or if serious violations are identified, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Training and Awareness
We aim to raise awareness of modern slavery risks among our management team, office staff, and operational personnel. Training and guidance will cover how to identify indicators of forced labour or exploitation, how our reporting channels work, and the responsibilities of individuals in escalating concerns.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage all employees, agency workers, suppliers, and other business partners to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or human trafficking at the earliest possible stage. Concerns can be raised through internal management channels, written reports to senior management, or through any existing whistleblowing mechanisms within the organisation.
Reports can be made confidentially, and we will take all concerns seriously. No individual raising a genuine concern in good faith will suffer any form of retaliation, disadvantage, or dismissal as a result of speaking up. All allegations will be assessed, and where appropriate we will investigate and take remedial or disciplinary action.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process. Man and Van West Hampstead is committed to continually improving our policies, procedures, and due diligence to reduce the risk of exploitation in our operations and supply chains.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed at least annually by our leadership. The review will consider changes in our business activities, updates in legislation, feedback from stakeholders, and the effectiveness of our existing controls. Where necessary, we will update our approach and communicate any significant changes internally and to key suppliers.
This statement has been approved on behalf of Man and Van West Hampstead and represents our commitment to ethical and responsible business practices.
